USEFUL INFO

Frequently Asked Questions:|

How late will you stay at my event?
We work by the hour, so we will stay as long as requested. We have packages of varying length, so please choose the package which best suits your needs.

Are you able to work in low-light situations?
Yes, we can take photographs with low light. However, the camera setting required for such lighting results in limited sizes of prints. The photographs can become grainy if the enlargements are very big.

Why is there a shipping/delivery fee?
Delivery is included in our packages. The fee is only charged on individual orders. It is time-consuming to deliver products, so we prefer that you pick up your products if possible, in order to avoid paying for the delivery person's time.

Why are the albums so expensive?
Our albums are custom made of bonded leather. They are of extremely high quality, and cannot be refunded. Each is customized with the name and/or wedding date on the cover, and can only be bought by that specific customer.

What time will you arrive to begin working?
Our arrival time at the first location depends on the time of the ceremony. We allow for traveling time, plus the amount of time required to cover each location. Then, we inform our clients of the time we will arrive.

Can you recommend any other services? We maintain a list of other services which may be useful to our clients. We do not specifically endorse any product or service, but try to give our clients some options from which to choose. This list is typically handed over at face-to-face appointments, whether our services are retained or not.

Why is there a non-refundable deposit?
While we try to provide the highest value to our customers, there is sometimes another business which offers what seems like a better value. Some people are led to believe that they can find a cheap service, and end up disappointed. We prefer that you do complete research before booking our service, so that you are not tempted to book, then cancel and re-book somewhere else. In many cases, the customer returns to the original service, anyway. It's simply too time-consuming to allow frivolous cancellations.

Is there an extra cost for having an assistant attend?
The assistant's services are provided without a charge. While a photographer is capable of working alone, it is useful to have an assistant. In many cases, the assistant is an apprentice photographer who is gaining experience by coming out to assist. There is no reduction in price if an assistant is not provided.

Can I save money by deleting items from a package?
No, package pricing has been reduced, as is the custom when a number of products are bundled. We would lose money if the packages were to be broken up in that way. We do provide shooting-only fees, to which other services can be added. In that way, it is possible to create your own custom package.

Can you guarantee the number of images provided?
All numbers quoted are estimations; therefore we do not provide guarantees. As each situation is different, it is not possible to predict how many images we will be able to provide. In an all-day wedding, it is typical to achieve at least two hundred images, probably more.

Why is the hourly rate so expensive for photography?
The photography rate provides for more that just the time provided on the wedding day. It includes processing the images, which takes several hours the next day, then uploading the images to the lab for printing. There is also time used in picking up the albums from the manufacturer, and picking up the photographs from the lab. Then there is the actual delivery to the client, all of which needs to be paid for up front.

Why do your photographs cost more than the local store?
Our photographs are processed at a professional colour laboratory. Each print is colour-corrected, printed on professional photo paper, and inspected before being released to the photographer for delivery. We need to cover the cost of having the best digital professionals working on our behalf.

Do you guarantee the photographs?
The photographs are guaranteed to be as they appear in the proof book or online proof gallery. The print quality typically exceeds what is provided by independent discount photo stores.

Do you provide financing toward your services?
We do not do financing. Once a contract is signed, we prefer that the client provide us with a series of post-dated cheques, which will be cashed on the appropriate dates.

What payment arrangements do you accept on packages?
We also accept cash, credit card cheques, money orders, bank draughts and Paypal™ payments.

Why is the online proof quality so poor?
The proof quality is deliberately downgraded in order to discourage theft of images by others.

Why is advance payment required for online purchases?
We incur a cost in preparing the orders. There is also time consumed in doing pickups at the lab. These costs need to be covered before we can outlay funds on your behalf.

Why does it take so long to receive my photographs and albums?
Custom photograph printing takes several days at least, plus the time to pick up and deliver the photos and albums. Also, it takes time to carefully mount the photographs in the albums.

Do you object to other persons taking pictures while you are working?
Guests are welcome to take their own photos. In fact, we will sometimes assist in getting good angles, etc if we are not too busy at the moment. We only ask that no one stand in our way while we are actively covering a scene.

Why is your CD/DVD cost higher than my local store?
Typically, the local store will charge around $10.00 to put up to fifty images on a plain disk. We will put your entire day on one disk, for not much more than that. We only charge more for doing custom image printing on the face of the disk.

What happens if your CD/DVD does not work in my machine at home?
Due to the large variety of machines in existence, we are not able to guarantee compatibility. We do check each disk to make sure the images are properly burned on to it before delivery.

Why am I not given the negatives/high-resolution digital images of my event?
As photography is considered a work of art, we treat it as such, and retain copyright of the images. As the client, you will retain the right to display your images, and to control the way in which your image is displayed. We will provide a disk to our clients containing smaller versions of the images we create, as a keepsake.
